Omega Seamaster f300Hz electronic tuning fork chronometer calendar wristwatch manufactured in 1970, in good original un-restored condition down to the signed crystal. The case, dial and movement are in good condition. The movement runs strongly and keeps time and the quick set date function operates correctly. The watch is signed four times on the case, dial, crown, movement. The movement in this watch is a cal. ESA 9162 (called the cal.1250 by Omega) electronic tuning fork mechanism, not a quartz movement. The ESA 9162 movement is considered by aficionados to be the “Rolls Royce” of tuning fork movements. It was designed by Max Hetzel, who worked for Bulova and was responsible for designing the Accutron 214. The "f300Hz" on the dial refers to the frequency of the tuning fork which provides chronometer precision in timekeeping. It is similar to the Bulova Accutron tuning fork movement but is considered to be of better quality and reliability. The ESA 9162 and its derivatives were used by several high end watchmakers in the 1970's, before quartz watches came to dominate the market, including IWC, Longines, Baume and Mercier, Zenith and Universal Geneve. I have a lot of other watches for sale so please check out my other listings. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking.
