Suitcase gramophone Victor Talking Machine Co. Victor Victrola VV-50 8061 His Masters Voice in mahogany cabinet, produced between 1921-1924. HXWXD 38 x 41 x 41 cm.
The VV-50 was the first portable Victrola model to be produced. Production began in the summer of 1921 and was discontinued in 1924, although the VV-50 remained in the Victor catalogue the following year and was sold from stored remaining stock. It used a simple engine with one spring and a wooden box of oak or mahogany, with steel protectors on every corner. Early production versions had the crutches at the front of the suitcase, but these were later moved to the right side of the instrument. And were hugely popular instruments during the "Roaring Twenties", because they allowed people to take their music to parks, picnics or outdoor events.
Condition: In working condition, traces of use, tear at the back, needle display faulty, and the key is faulty.
