Augusto Garau (1923-2010) - La Torre Dei Giochi

With his towers, Garau has reached the apex of synthesis. The geometries of concrete art, never abandoned in his long and eclectic research, form the backbone of this mature work. Transparencies (his text “Armonie Del Colore” is currently being studied in various international universities) are the very essence of the work: the harmonic colours follow one another in a climax of heat inversely proportional to the brightness, as if entering a dense summer wood.
The presence of the only disharmonious note, the blue colour, brings the whole back to immobility in an eternal circle of perceptions.
The plastic balances, with magically unstable and almost dizzy support angles, contribute to the perpetual dynamics that is the special element distinguishing this work.
